The Hertfordshire RFU U20s, also known as the Stags, play a pivotal role in our commitment to nurturing and retaining talent within the county. Serving as a bridge between Age Grade, University, and Senior rugby, the Stags provide a vital platform for young players to continue their development and enjoy rugby at a representative level.
Our Purpose
Our team is dedicated to providing a supportive and competitive environment for players returning from university or work, as well as those progressing from our Age Grade programs. We aim to foster a culture of growth, camaraderie, and excellence, both on and off the field.
Competitions
The Hertfordshire RFU U20s compete in the prestigious Jason Leonard County Championship, where we test our skills against other top county teams. With three games per year, each match is an opportunity for our players to showcase their talent and dedication to the sport.
Training
We believe in the importance of regular training to enhance individual skills and team cohesion. Our coaching and management team, led by Harry Hicks, provide a solid platform for player development, ensuring that every member of the Stags reaches their full potential.

Eligibility:
To be eligible to play for the Hertfordshire RFU U20s, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be under 20 years of age at midnight on August 31st of the playing year.
- Attend full-time a school or a further or higher education establishment within Hertfordshire.
- Have played for Hertfordshire in the Under 18 Championships in previous seasons.
- Play for a Hertfordshire rugby club.
- Be born in Hertfordshire.
Playing Standards:
While we welcome players of all skill levels, a certain standard of rugby proficiency is required to ensure the competitiveness of our team.
Selection Process:
Players are selected via contact and invitation, ensuring that our team comprises the best talent Hertfordshire has to offer.
