Passing of Alan Gibbs

It is with great sadness that we inform you that Alan Gibbs, Past President and Life Vice President of Hertfordshire Referees Society and Life Member of Hertfordshire RFU, passed away this morning after a short period in hospital. Prior to that Alan had not been in the best of health for a while but had maintained an interest in matters of Refereeing and rugby in general.

Although a full obituary will be published in the near future, we must mention that Alan’s Contribution to refeering in Hertfordshire was second to none. His expert networking whilst appointments secretary enabled the Society to obtain a nationwide reputation for the quality of its referees a legacy that is reflected today with the continued success of our young referees.

Our sympathy goes to his wife, Gillian, and children Andrew and Charlotte.
